What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana. My son is now 25 and is still in college, his 2nd college. He went to Indiana State U. for 3 years and decided to change his major and switch colleges to U. of Southern Indiana. Now he's been there for 3 years and again wants to switch majors and attend IVY Tech. How long do I have to pay child support on him? Can he keep going to college until he's an old man and I have to keep paying child support? This has got to end sometime. I've looked under Indiana guidelines for child support and it doesn't mention a thing about how long child support has to be paid. My ex-wife says I have to keep paying until he graduates, but at this rate my 'career college student' won't ever get a degree. What can I do?
