What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

The children are now 23 and 22. The father has been living in Maryland for the past 16 years and was ordered through Montgomery Co. to pay $160 per month plus $20 toward arrears back in 1989. He is currently over $21,000 in arrears.

He has 7 other children by 3 other woman (after mine) and has been working under-the-table or moving about to avoid paying. He hasn't had any contact with his children since my second one was born, until a week after she turned 18, he called.

When the Maryland case started, I was living in NC. When my second husband and I left the military and moved to Missouri, the case was transferred from NC to Missouri. Nine years ago we moved to Oklahoma, but Missouri has still been receiving the support from Maryland, then forwarding them to me.

Last year, the ex (childrens father) made 3 arrearage payments then stopped. Last I heard in Dec., he has found another woman to take him in and support him and may be in Virginia now.

I would like to press to have the arrearage issue brought back up. Which state would I need to start this in? I am going to assume it is still Maryland, am I correct? Also, does the state child support enforcement work on cases that are no longer in the 'current child support due' category? Am I going to have to find other means for filing contempt? Would I be able to file contempt here in OK though this state has never been involved?

Thanks in advance.....

Blood from a turnip...

MD is the state...they retain jurisdiction until/if the case is ever moved. Make a call.

Unfortunately, from what I've read, you may find yourself on the back-burner as the child is currently emancipated.

If the ex is not working (or is working under the table) and has no property to attach, MD can make threats if they can find him -- maybe jail -- but cash?

Hopefully, somebody will have better news. Good luck.

Thank you inquiry, I kinda figured it would be with Maryland still.
He DID do a short stint in jail for contempt back in 1987 through Pennsylvania where he was living. Maryland, on the other hand, has not done a whole lot. I have records here of my contact with them and vice versa throughout the years. Because of his lack of work/working off the books, this case has been stagnant for some time.

I did try one of those 'Child Support Network' deals a few years ago, but they didnt have much luck. My ex told me that some agency was harrassing him to pay but he would just hang up on them and throw away their letters.

I have a letter he wrote me back in 1987. He had just had another baby with his newest girlfriend and was telling me in the letter that he was sick of my sh*t and that all I ever do is take from him and his family. This letter still ticks me off when I read it.

When he contacted my 2 daughters 4 years ago he made all kinds of promises to them. He has never fulfilled one. My oldest one just got married a few months ago. The ex had spoken to her just a few weeks prior, knew the wedding date (New Years Eve) and knows there is a child on the way. Did he call her on her wedding date? Did he send a gift..anything? Nope...never has, never will.

When my kids were growing up they use to ask me all kinds of questions about their dad. I gave them the few pictures I had of him and made sure I never talked bad or put the ex down...I figured someday they would find out what he is like, and they have, on their own.

Sorry to be rambling..guess I'm getting tired and its past 2 am by now..lol!!

Child support jurisdiction *Update*

I called and spoke to Maryland about the arrears. Maryland does NOT have this case in Child Support Enforcement..just through their court systems w/ case number.

I also spoke to Missouri who couldnt tell me a whole lot (as the receiving state)

Well I found the father again today. I have his phone #, address, email addy, etc. He IS in Virginia with the latest woman willing to support him. He has been there over 6 months.

Do I file a case with Virginia? Or try here in Oklahoma?

His newest woman raises/breeds dogs and has her business from her home. There is a website. On this website, the missing father has his own page with HIS woodworking business advertised. It has it's own 'name' with advertising his skills in woodworking and pictures of his work. He is using her site, her address, and her phone number for HIS business though.

I know he does not file taxes, and has not in the past 10 years that he has been running his business from other residences (in MD)

What would be the best way to approach this? It angers me to see him jumping ship on his responsibility to OUR children, along with the other 7 kids he has. There are numerous pics on this website of him with a boat, 4-wheelers, 116 acre w/ luxury home,..etc. I am sure not ONE item is in his name though.

Suggestions?

Jurisdiction?

Thank you!!!
