What is the name of your state? Georgia

Hello, I am a divorced single mom who has been supprting my child ALONE. My ex is suppose to pay child support, but refuses. We have been divorced for 6 years and I have took him to court on a contempt charge 3 times. The first 2 times, he paid the money. The third time he asked for his pay check to be garnished and the judge agreed, he QUIT WORK THE NEXT WEEK. I have got nothing since and this has been 3 years (he owes $16,000). He works for cash and there is no paper trail. In the mean time he has fathered another baby and is still with the mother ( who is 10 years younger <19 years old> and already had 3 kids).
I have tried to contact him by certified mail and he doesn't call. He doesn't show up for birthday parties, buy birthday presents, nor Christmas presents. But to his family I am the bad person. I am told that I am the one who refuses to allow him see her(HA HA) and that is why he will not pay child support. I am fortunate to have a good paying job and can afford to take good care of her on my own. I am told that if I take him to court he will take her away. Is this possible?? or just an excuse to let him go free???

You really shouldn't worry . If the kid is well established , and you are able to provide a stable environment , I doubt a Court would change Custody .

One thing if you receive State aid or decide to get State Aid , that Agency would go after him for support .

Don't worry .

another thing--

What about Grandparent visitation rights?
his mother is a "real character". She wants to see the child, but I have to pay her. If she watches her while I work, then I have to pay. She keeps all the other grandkids for free. I have refused to allow her to see her anymore. i told her that if she wanted to see the kid, have her son bring her over if and when he ever uses his visitation rights. She said that I must allow her to have her 1 weekend per month. is this true??

I'm sure one of the other posters will correct me if I am wrong but I believe Grandparent's rights don't come into play until the bio parent has terminated rights. Otherwise it's is the NCPs responsibility to take the child to see that side of the family.

And you shouldn't worry about custody. The fact he's so far behind in arrears says a lot about how much he's worried about the welfare of the child.

THANKS for your help,

I think the main reason for all this uproar is the fact that I have gone on with my life and I'm doing well. i am 3 classes away from earning my bachelor's degreee, I am engaged to a wonderful man, and we are within weeks away from breaking ground on the building of the house of my dreams! God really blesses those who never give up no matter what.

THANKS :) :)
