What is the name of your state? Missouri If a person agrees to a certain amount of child support can it then be changed ? we're talking 6 or 7 years ago and the amount was for my ex to pay $ 27.70 a week for two children that I had three-fourths of every month and he had one-fourth of every month. ???

Child support modification is allowable after the length of time specified. The court who orginally had jurisdiction, is where the filing should be made. In most states, child support can be as much as 50% of disposable earnings or (40xmin. wage per week)

wifemom, just to clarify, the state where CURRENT jurisdiction is held is where the petition to modify must be filed. If you received the support order in Missour and (as your post implies) currently live there, then it would be Missouri.

HOWEVER, if the order was from another state and since that time you have moved from there to Missouri, then you need to come back here and explain how long you have been in Missouri, where the original order was issued and where the bio father lives now. Because they are all factors in deciding where jurisdiction is held.
