What is the name of your state? California

I am in the military stationed in Germany. I filed for divorce in Georgia, and got a court order to pay child support for 23% of my income for two kids. It was an amicable seperation. Now my ex, who lives in California, is filing to get more money. I got a letter from child support services, and on it they want to take as much as 40% for two kids. I get (BAS) which is what the army pays me, not my family to eat on. Also, I get (cola) cost of living allowance which helps offset the difference between dollars and euros. Basically I think that 40% of my check is too much. Can I fight this? Should I get a lawyer? Will it be worth it?

From what I know about Ga. CS laws, 32 % is the normal amount for CS, so 40 % seems too high, unless there are arrears.

Your ex lives in Ca., do you still list Ga. as your home state? If not, then jurisdiction may be a problem, ans a change of venue might need to be done.
(I can tell you from experience , watch Ga. CSE very closely, they are known for trying to slide alot past unknowledgeable NCP's).

It would not hurt to check with an attorney, it will be worth the small cost.
Good luck to you.
