What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

I accidentally discovered a way to modify a patent protected device(automotive aftermarket), by adding 2 parts to make it work much more efficiently. I filed for patent protection, but I looked up their patent drawings, and it looks completely different from the product, that is now being sold in the U.S.

This product currently sells for an average price of $18/ea. I researched and found the Chinese manufacturer of this product, and was told that they would sell it to me for $1.38/each, but I have to buy $3000 worth, which doesn't include import fees, tariffs etc. etc.

I asked if they could manufacturer it according to my specs. They said they could, but they want a drawing before they can determine the cost. I realize they'll most likely steal it and sell it in foreign countries, but at least I'll be covered in the U.S.

I have a very cosmetically appealing prototype, just like it will be on the shelf.

Questions:
1. Would it be wise to send my prototype instead of drawings, and can they be trusted?

2. Can the patent holder of the current device sue me for selling their device with only a slight alteration?

Thanks beforehand.
