What is the name of your state? Ohio

I know that churches are exempt from paying unemployment insurance, but the Ohio state law says that non profit employees are "covered" employees, and then the organization pays the amount owed. But I'm getting conflicting info about churches. I was employed 30 hours per week as an office manager at a church. Should I be able to collect unemployment? When I talked to theunemployment office, my church, which eliminated my job so that the pastor's wife could have it, hadn't submitted any of my wage information to the state this year yet. What are my rights and what should I do?

You go ahead and file and let the Office of Unemployment Compensation do the discovery. There's no penalty for filing, even if you aren't awarded benefits. Sounds like they may be a reimbursable employer; wouldn't exempt them from having to file quarterly wage reports, though.
