What is the name of your state? California
I received a letter from my neighbor's attorney requesting that I appear for a civil harassment hearing. This is a copy of a letter that is addressed and faxed to a presiding judge advising him that the lawyer's office has been retained by my neighbor.
This letter is not a subpoena, it came as a non-certified letter.

I checked the court calendar and found there is a case number. Among the information I found under the case number, there was the following: Declaration RE: NOTICE UPON EX PARTE APPLICATION FOR ORDERS Filed. What does this mean?
Also, I don't know if this relevant, but my name was misspelled in the letter and on the court's website.

Where do I stand? Should I appear at this hearing?

Thank you.

An ex parte hearing would allow the case for the RO to be heard without proper legal notification to the other party. You need to show up for the hearing if you wish to contest the issuing of an RO and have your side of the story heard. The misspelling means nothing.
