I am a high school teacher who was recently diagnosed with Clinical Depression. This diagnosis happened between my last two evaluations in fact I started treatment with antidepressents a week before my final evaluation. My supervisor raked me across the coals and gave me a very bad evaluation. This resulted in my contract being nonrenewed for next year. The superintendant gave me a choice between resigning or having the nonrenewal letter on my record. I had told the administration that I had been struggling with Clinical Depression and had only recently been diagnosed and started treatment for that condition. I felt that my inability to reach the improvement goals set by my supervisor was a direct result of the previously untreated depression. My question is what legal recourse do I have with this situation. I have already resigned but I am kind of upset about the whole situation.
