What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

Hi.
Thank you.

A co-publishing contract has been emailed to me. Half of me thinks I should be flattered, but the other, well-fed half thinks I should have someone look at it.

Also, should I be paying expenses for mailings and whatnot?

The wise person will have any publishing contract reviewed by a lawyer before signing it. The attorney can advise on the mailings and whatnot.

Thanks. I guess I was hoping I could have someone here look at it, because I cannot afford $375 an hour for a lawyer to tell me to save my money. I don't mean to be flip---I really am just a songwriter trying to do the right thing.

We can offer advice here (for free ;)), but we cannot do any legal work for you.

If money is an issue, you can try to locate a legal aid clinic in your area. If there is a law school near where you live, they often have legal clinics manned by law students who are supervised by attorneys. They are able to review contracts.
