Collect phone charge

A charge for a collect call appeared on my last phone bill. The call orgininated from somewhere in Canada (I live in Virginia)and lasted for 78 min. I do not know anyone in Canada nor would I have accepted charges and talked for that length of time. I limit any collected calls to a few minutes unless it is my husband calling during a business trip. I have contacted the phone service billing me for the call and all they say is that someone accepted the call and that is all there is to it. We just returned home from a 10 day vacation on the day the call was supposedly made and know one in this house accepted the call.

Look to the neighbor you had watching your home while you were away.

It may help if you complain to the Pulic Utility Commission or other state governmental agency that supervises the phone company.
