I Ordered a CD from A Music Company with the agreement that I would also receive some free CD's by doing so.
I gave them my credit card information and they deducted all payments directly from my account. I received all my free CD's. However I was unhappy with their shipping costs and stated this and ended my membership. (They deducted all shipping costs off my credit card.)
Now for about 6 months they say I did not order the required original purchase price CD. I have no access to my account history on their website (it says due to the fact that there is a dispute I have no access), therefore I cannot look up the exact title and date of the CD I ordered for the regular price. The also would like for me to pay for more shipping costs that had already been deducted from my credit card in March . I wrote all this to the the original CD-Company but my mail was ALWAYS ignored. I gave them dates and Credit Card transaction numbers to no avail.
Now I have received my third letter from the Collection Agency whom I also have written and sent photocopies of the original notes or letters to the CD Company and they also ignored all my mail. (In the meantime the first bill they wanted via the collection agency has a different amount than the new amount being disputed.
I realise now, that I should probably have sent all correspondece by registered (or certified) mail. I would like to know now if this would be the correct procedure (registered mail) or if there is anything else I should consider before doing so, or have I been dealing with this in a wrong manner?
I have never had bad credit and am extremely nervous about this whole matter, for they threatened me that this would affect my credit rating. The whole amount is only for about $30.00 to $40.00 but still I cannot just pay and ignore the fact that these companies try to intimidate and have abosolutely no professional business practice whatsoever, not even mentioning polite manners.
Thank you in advance for any help!!
