My first question,
Does the state of California and Oregon allow common law marriages and what is the time limit on both.

Second question,
Is there and where in Portland,Oregon that I can get financial help with a divorce. I am a single mom with two kids and am not able to afford the divorce. And do any of the lawyers here in Portland allow there fee to be accepted after the property and debts have been split up.

Thank you

My response:

Neither State is a "Common Law" marriage State. In both States, you must have a marriage license, signed by a duly authorized officiate, and then filed with the County Clerk's Office.

Unless you moved from a Common Law State with your "partner" to the State of Oregon, then you are NOT married and your don't need a divorce. If you did live with your partner in a Common Law marriage State, and subsequently moved to Oregon, then you are recognized as being married.

Let me know your exact situation, and we'll go on from there with your post.
