The following states recognize common law marriages:

Alabama, Colorado, District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.

You'll notice that Missouri is conspicuously absent from the list.
