I live in Louisiana, can anyone give me information about community property that still hasn't been settled due to uncooperating ex.? The divorce has been almost 10 yrs ago.
Don't have the funds to fight thru court.

My response:

If you can't afford to exercise your rights, or don't know how to exercise your rights on your own, then there's nothing you can do. We do not "teach" law courses on this site with step-by-step procedures. You may obtain a free, in-person, consultation with a Family Law attorney near you to review what rights you might still have, and whether you can still do anything about the situation.

However, I can almost assure you, if 10 years have passed, you have more than probably lost all rights to your share of the property anyway, due to the fact that your Statute of Limitations has expired.

You may decide that it is better to "cut bait" than continue to "fish" at this point, because you'd probably wind up spending money for nothing.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have found out that there is no statue of limitations on community property here in Louisiana. What I was more worried about was what would happen to the home and things that my wife now and I have since we live on some of the property that is considered part of the community property. The ex-wife lives on the other property in the home that we built together on land that I had inherited. There are no minor children involved and she is completly unreasonable and uncooperative. She wants is all,but it was a no-fault divorce and so not entiled to all.
