What is the name of your state?VA

I am a network administrator working for a fortune 500 company in VA. I now know that I am considered EXEMPT as I don't get paid for overtime. My question is:

How legally liable is the company to give me time off for overtime hours worked? I am on call as well every 4th week for the entire week. While on call am not FREE to move because I have to be within a 30min response time to the users. Is this legal as well?

In a meeting just the other day I was told by my boss that basically, comp time would not start until at least 10hrs were put in.

Thanks in advance for all help.

How legally liable is the company to give me time off for overtime hours worked? Zip, nada, zilch. A private sector employer has no obligation whatsoever to provide comp time for hours worked beyond an exempt employee's cutomary schedule.

I am on call as well every 4th week for the entire week. While on call am not FREE to move because I have to be within a 30min response time to the users. Is this legal as well? Absolutely. If you don't care for the terms of your employment, you're free to find a new position elsewhere with no on call requirements.
