What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
My employer is a large US-based company.
1. I am a non-exempt employee, but do not get paid for overtime. I know it is illegal and my employer knows it is illegal. I put in the overtime without pay to preserve my job.
2. The employer off-shored about 60% of the US positions, reducing our US workforce. Because offshore staff are not trained, US staff workload has doubled.
3. It was announced in June that our salaries were being cut by 4% due to the poor economy. To make up for this, the company is giving each of us 80 hours of paid time off that we can use throughout the year. The problem is that with the staff reduction, we do not have time to take extra vacation, let alone our regular vacation. We were told that Supervisers/Managers cannot deny our requests for PTO.
4. Next, we were informed that the company was sold to another large company. We were directed to just keep doing what we're doing for now. Details are being worked out.
5. Received email notification that due to a large project, all vacation plans for December are now on hold unless an exemption is granted. Conflicts with item #3 where the company tries to appease us by giving extra PTO.
6. Received email notification that due to the same large project, all staff must be 'on call' from 11/25 - 11/29. This notification was received today.
I am glad that I still have a job, but I feel trapped and abused by all of this.
Any feedback?
Thanks
