I have several questions here. One is that my husband has inherited money from his father who passed away this year and that money is in his name. Am I able to claim any of that money from him when we get a divorce...even if it is for his children? He will eventually be inheriting quite a substantial amount of money from his mother when she passes in the next 5 or so years and I am not looking for that money for me personally but I am trying to look out for our childrens future, especially education wise.

The second question is what is the difference between alimony and spousal support...seems the same to me...please elaborate. I am an at home mother, who quit the work force after our 3rd child was born so I do not have an income as yet. What would my rights be?

My response:

I have an idea . . . how about calling a local attorney and get a free initial consultation. That way, you can go over all of your concerns in detail - - one on one. Call a Family law attorney on Monday.

I do not see anything rude in the good advice given by IAAL. It appears you are planning a divorce and possibly standing a death-watch over your mother-in law. Your husband's inherited money is his. If he is wise he will be sure not to co-mingle with community pot. I believe alimony and child support are assessed based on income. The court will award equitable child support and alimony.

you are sooooooo rude sometimes.... couldnt you hqave said what you did in a bit more of a way that doesnt convey the message * HEY GUESS WHAT..I'm a smart ass?"

we all already KNOW this....... even if you do have sound advice, sometimes you act like you had the proverbial stick broke off in your butt and never got over it.......

My response:

You know Faith, you really are an "a s s h o l e".

If you had bothered to look, instead of opening your fat mouth, you would have seen that this writer had already written two or three previous posts, and which I had responded. Our writer had many questions, and when you consider her other concerns in her previous posts, you'd see that all of her questions in this post need to be answered in conjunction with each of the other previous concerns she had.

When your level of education, practical experience, and knowledge equal mine, then you have my permission to question my motives, intent, responses and answers. Until that day, just shut up.

Your apology is accepted. B i t c h.
