What is the name of your state? Minnesota I work for company that is union. When people get fired for attendence reasons - they are able to collect unemployment. When I asked someone why that was because - listed on the website - it says - you don't qualify if fired for attendence. I was told that because the employee was a union member that the company can not say why they were let go - only that they were no longer working for the company. Is this the case...I am confused.

We are confused too. What website are you talking about? Unles it specifically written in the cba (which I highly doubt), the employer is not obligated by any law not to disclose to the state UEI board why an employee was discharged. Your state UEI board makes the determination whether someone gets the benefits not the company or union
