What is the name of your state? Virginia.

If I have a meeting with someone, and they turn on a tape recorder in front of me and records our conversation without requesting my consent, is it a violation of my rights, even if I didn't object? I have a feeling the contents of this recording will be used to make a case against me.

Actually you did consent. By not getting up and leaving or stating explicitly on the tape that you did not give consent, your consent was understood or implied.

okay, thanks for the immediate response. so there is no way to dispute this? if i didn't understand my rights at the time, and they didn't ask, can they still be found in violation.
