I have lived in VA since 1997. I was divorced in KS and my children were born in KS. Their father petitioned the court to request to no longer pay child support this year. He has also agreed to terminate his parental rights to the children. My current husband would like to adopt. I received a certified letter and a email requesting I send the needed papers to his lawyer to term parental rights. How does this work? Can I just get a consent form to term rights. He stated he will sign it and have it notorized by his lawyer. How do I get this form so we can adopt in VA.

sounds fishy. His lawyer should supply the proper paperwork. But if he insists on this method, get yourself a private lawyer to see you through this process and the adoption.
