What is the name of your state? TX

I met with a lawyer 3-4 weeks ago and told him about my case, etc. The length of the meeting was only an hour long. Today I receive a letter in the mail asking for $500 for that one hour meeting. I was never even told about this fee or anything at any time when I set up the meeting or even during the meeting. The lawyer never mentioned it, but he is now charging me that for just a consultation. Is this wrong? What can I do?

If you didn't sign anything about this in advance of the meeting, ignore it. He had an ethical obligation to discuss this with you BEFORE he met with you. If his advice was beneficial to you, then pay a portion of the fee, whatever you think it's worth.
