What is the name of your state? Colorado
3-4 years ago, I foolishly cosigned for a car loan for my sons' (then) fiance. She screwed it up. I realize I was an idiot ofr signing, but I can't change that now. The case eventually went to court (Sept 2005) a judgement was entered against both the girlfriend and myslef (equal amounts). In January 2006, there was a request for interrogitories (requesting my bank accounts, etc, etc). I did not respond. I now have a summons for Contempt of Court and am ordered to appear July 7 to "show cause why she should not be held in contempt". What exactly does that mean and what will likely happen (both if I appear and if I do not). There are many reasons I do not feel responsible for this debt, but that is beside the point right now.

It means you screwed up and pissed off the court by not complying with a lawful legal process.

No one can GUESS what might happen when you show... but you will be ordered to comply and might face some fine (sanctions) for your failure.
If you don't show... you can bet their will be a warrant issued for your arrest.

Not really. You co-signed, making YOU liable. Not much excuse for your not being responsible.
