What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
Does anyone have the specifics of a lien release in PA. In a continuation to my previous post I was able to contact the person who placed a lien against my prior wife. He admitted that the judgement was paid in full and had a notarized form submitted to the court. That was over two weeks ago. He now claims that the Court House sent a letter requesting proof of payment. As you can imagine I am searching diligently for a copy of the US Postal Money Order, but with two moves, a divorce and sporadic assistance from the Ex I'm not sure where the MO receipt ended up, or even who has the receipt. Legal down at the base in NJ is at a loss, (but not licensed to practice in PA) and says the "creditors" signature and notarized form is PROOF that he received payment. I have not received a copy of the letter and wonder if I'm being played...The ex's lawyer never mentioned anything about getting a satisfaction of judgement when it was paid two years ago, and I didn't even know there was a lien until I went to re-fi this year....
Any thoughts as to what this new letter is? Are PA laws different such that you need additional information? The form doesn't mention anything about including ulterior information or proof of payment...you'd think all they would be concerned with is a signed and notarized statement from the creditor....
