What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AL

We had a contract for deed and the buyer moved off, but he did eventually sign a quit claim deed. However, the buyer left owing thousands of dollars in back payments, several months insurance that we paid because he lost his for non-payment, unpaid taxes, and he took items from the house, left a mess, and damaged some of the property. We were told that we should sue. Which items should we or can we sue for?

thank you
