Hopefully I can make this easy. Verbal agreement to no refund on a wedding venu. Half down as a deposit. Wedding date has changed snd they won't transfer. I get the loss logically, but with no ability to change obviously asking for my money back and both are bring refused. Not sure how both can happen without these stipulations even being agreed to. Its not enough money to hire someone over, only $600, but if they can't move it im lost. Any suggestions on help welcome. Responses that are negative about what I should have done dont help, jusy speaking from previous posts nothing nasty nothing worse to think you have gotten advice to hear again your own stupidity for not asking for a contract

If you get the loss logically, then what is the problem. A non-refundable deposit is a non-refundable deposit. You asked them to reserve that date; therefore, they could no longer give that availability to anyone else.

Had you gotten it in writing you should have expected the same.

Yes the refund I understand. Date is in october w asked then to move the date. I get the no refund, but there was never anything about transfer of date and that happens often. This is a facility that is not strictly wedding and the ONLY thing mentioned was the non refund. If u can not offer any suggestions then pls dont reply, it doesnt do anything to read those responses.

Sorry if you didn't like her response, but it is accurate.

You agreed to a non-refundable deposit based on a specific date. When you negotiated your verbal contract, you could have discussed the possibility of transferring the deposit should it become necessary to change the date. That was a term that was never discussed or agreed upon, so you can't now expect to be able to change your mind or the terms of the contract you DID agree upon because its inconvenient to you. (Clearly YOU did not think about it at the time, and that was the time to bring it up.)

For future reference, if you are paying a non-refundable deposit for a date-sensitive event like this, don't commit to it until you have your schedule set in stone.
