I contracted to have my house sided in 4/99. I agreed to pay $4000 and a remaining $1500 over 12 months @ $125/month. Quality of work is sub-standard, including buckled siding, trim that was cut short and hammered to fit, a screw that supported an electrical wire was pryed from the house and nailed back up (after it was left dangling in a bush for 2 months), siding was put on backwards and much more. I gave him every opportunity to make repairs and said I would start payments when the job was complete. I provided him with number-coded diagrams in 6/99 showing the problems. He fixed nothing and hasn't contacted me since 9/99. I was served with a summons for small claims court and appeared today. Mediation didn't work, nor did the conference with the judge -- the contractor wants the balance w/o making the repairs. The judge ordered a jury trial in 2 weeks and told me to have an expert witness testify to the work and to support my numerous photos. I know I need this to get the photos in as evidence to be considered by the jury. Local contractors don't want to get involved because they all know each other. Is there any agency I could call to locate an expert witness in this area? Thanks alot. I'm familiar with the federal system and this is all new to me. An attorney friend said I should be able to do the questioning myself, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again.
