What is the name of your state? Wisconsin
I just received a letter from our condo board that they are planning on converting the condo to a 55 and older community. Thus, 80% of the residents of a unit will need to be 55 and older to live there. Since I am in my 30s and I currently live alone, they're essentially kicking me out of my home. (I've lived here since October of last year.) Not only that, since only 55 and older are allowed to live here, the market to sell this condo has gone down, thereby decreasing the value of this property.
Nobody ever informed me of this prior to my purchasing this property. If I had known, I would never have purchased this property.
According to their lawyer, they are basing this under HOPA, which supposedly allows discrimination based on age for older people.
What are my legal options?
Thank you.
