Good day all,

I have recently set up a free website through Wix whereby we provide track-lists (a list of songs played during a mix) to those who are A, unable or B, to lazy to identify the songs themselves. The plan is to set up paid advertising and what not to profit from any traffic that may pass through. We gain this traffic by promoting a link to our site in the comments section of sites such as YouTube, Soundcloud etc.

My concern is whether or not I am able to make it illegal for the individual (or anyone else) having uploaded the mix to copy the text from our site and place it in their description which would ultimately prevent potential traffic from navigating to our site through the supplied link.

I have written the following (Quoted text below) short piece in the hopes of scaring off any uneducated individuals but quite frankly I myself am guilty of being uneducated on the matter. It would bring some well deserved peace of mind to know for a fact if it would hold up from a legal standpoint and if not, how I might go about doing so. "PLEASE NOTE: The following list is for educational purposes only and as such is to be considered as, "Intellectual Property". It is not to be copied and shared or re-posted anywhere else, by anyone else other than myself, in any form what so ever. Thanks for your understanding everyone!"

Thanks in advance for your time!

Kind regards,
Stevo

What is the name of your state, Stevo, or if not in the US, what is the name of your country?

We are unable on this forum to assist posters with the wording or analysis of legal writings. Sorry.

I can tell you that you cannot protect facts from being used by others. You can only protect the expression of these facts. If you are merely listing the songs in a mix in the order they appear in the mix, you will not have any content that can be protected under copyright laws.

A case to review is Feist Publications Inc. v. Rural Telephone Service Co., 499 US 340 (1991).
