TEXAS

I just started a business with name xyzFico (offcourse XYZ is not the real half of the business name). My business is Credit Analysis & Advice and i have this website running online xyzfico dot com. Today i got an email from FICO's (Fair Isaac) Legal vice president, she is asking me to immediately stop this activity, shut down the website and change business name, because it contains FICO word in there.

Now i have a concern, if my business name is XYZFico, and not all uppercase, as FICO (All upper case) is registered to Fair Isaac Corporation. I dont want to change the name of my business, but this email has really made me upset. I am just a college student, and trying to start little busines shere. Is this copyright infringement? or they just trying to scare me ?What is the name of your state?

Are you using the FICO trademark to try to get business? Does your business have anything to do with finance and credit scores? If so then you are infringing on their trademark.

Why should your business profit from the reputation that they have built around that mark?

Nope

I am not using FICO® trademark @ all. My business name is xyzFico and yes i am credit repair firm, but i am not using their FICO word itself. They asking me to close my website

Here is the original email ;)
It has come to our attention that you have registered or own the following domain names: xyzfico dot com. Without our permission or consent, you are using Fair Isaac's FICO® mark in your domain names, on your Web Site, and in your business name to offer credit services that are in no way affiliated with Fair Isaac. Your use of Fair Isaac's FICO mark infringes and dilutes the distinctive quality of Fair Isaac's marks in violation of federal and state law. A number of remedies are available for violating U.S. trademark law, including monetary and injunctive relief.

Fair Isaac places great value in its trademark rights and cannot permit activities which conflict with these rights to continue. It is strange that you claim to be in college and yet dont understand that those two sentences make no sense toegther.

FICO is a trademarked term in finance and credit.
You have incorporated FICO in your business name, domain name and marketing
You are a buisiness engaged in finance and or credit
Infringement. Plain and simple.
