What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania
As a paying spectator can I use still photographs for use as fine art prints?
The NHRA(drag racing) folks say they 'own' all of the copyrights, how can that be legal?
The event sells a video pass which states the event owns the copyrights but nothing is found(signs ect) to indicate that this applies to photographs. The event is in Kentucky.
thanks to all-m

The only photographs you are entitled to are the ones which are taken from a public vantage point. By entering their PRIVATE property, you agree to their terms, and THAT is what makes it legal.

Question: do you have the money to defend yourself at court if the rich promoters were to sue you?

thanks, the only terms I agree to knowingly are paying $10 to get a stamp on my hand. Would these terms and conditions of entry onto private property be on the ticket stub(as I have seen) or would they be found in /on the office, a sign of rules or some obvious public place, ect?
Im a starving artist with a film camera so I dont have the moola for a law suit.
Thanks again

Count on "not being allowed to use images taken from within the private property" to be the standard unless you have permission otherwise. Now, I must admit I am NOT the most knowledgeable person here, and perhaps one with more insight will step in and correct me. In the meantime, there is a search bar on this site, and I do know similar questions have been asked before, so perhaps some searching would prove fruitful.

Thanks- I appreciate the clarity of your answer. It gives me a whole different outlook on taking photos.
