Ideas cannot be copyrighted however, if you flesh your idea out a bit (with characters, plot lines, etc) and write it down, then it is automatically copyrighted. For further protection for your TV show, you can register it. Registration gives you the presumption of ownership (as well as showing the date your show was created).
