Corrective action might comes to fire

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon

I work at an cooperative dental office, recently I have been told that I might get an high level corrective action or fire because I took off my daughter's orthodontic rubber band before the teeth cleaning. That day I was not working, my daughter had an orthodontic appointment right after the cleaning appointment.
I went to ask ortho assistant to took off but they were very busy, since i also work at ortho department sometime, so I thought I could solve the problem by myself. So I took off my daughter's rubber bands. I did check with Dr. The day before the appointment if I could take off the rubber bands , and he said it would be fine.
But my company now saying that I did it without Dr. 'S direct supervision and I did it at office when I was not working. I used office tool to do, it went to compliance problem.
But office is a huge office, lot of time when assistant working something on patients Dr. might at a different room.
Is there anyone could help, I want to keep my job, they are going to make decision the coming Monday. Thank you very much for help!

Help you do what? Keep your job after violating a known policy? How would we be able to do that?

1. After i got permission, i did in the same office as doctor.
2. I am registered assistant, it is within my scoop of practice
3. This is my daughter not my patient
4. I was not working

Answer these questions as if the "patient" was not your child. Are you properly trained to perform the procedure on a patient? Did you perform the procedure under the direct supervision of a doctor, as required?
Since you used their facilities, you needed to follow the rules.

The problem is that once you used THEIR facilities, then you needed to follow the rules of the profession. If you don't know those rules, then you should. Yes, this is your daughter, but by utilizing their facility, they view this as being a patient.

That is what they told me. But have anyone had experience that you ask floss at dental office and you floss your self at dental office, floss is one step of procedures within prophy cleaning appointment. Floss count as office supplies?
Plus, I could ask orthodontic assistant to do it, but since they are busy, so I tried to help

But, you weren't just flossing, nor was the patient doing it herself.

Bottom line: there is no law you can invoke that will prohibit them from disciplining or firing you, if that is indeed what they decided to do.

1. After i got permission, i did in the same office as doctor.
2. I am registered assistant, it is within my scoop of practice
3. This is my daughter not my patient
4. I was not working


All totally irrelevant to whether or not you can legally be disciplined or fired.

If they fire me, do I qualified to get my unemployment package?
