I'm in the state of Florida:
I was originally sentenced to 3 years probation and to pay off restitution of six thousand dollars. Well, my probation is coming to an end this April and I still owe somewhere between four and half thousand dollars.
A couple of weeks ago my probation officer violated me because she felt I was coming to close to the end of my probation and I still owed a lot of money and told me I had a court date for this repremand a day before the court date (very sneaky). However I got the courts to reschedule my hearing.
I currently have a lawyer who is "suppose" to be working on getting me released from probation. I tried contacting him regarding this situation but I got no response from him so I have a feeling I will be showing up to court and representing myself.
What I want to know is, how should I proceed with this? Do I show up to court and try explaining to the judge what my income is vs. my spendings? Should I ask for community service or just simply ask for more time? What's the best thing to do here and avoid any jail time! Please any advice is appreciated... What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
