What is the name of your state?oh

I asked some questions on this site before and caused quite a stir, that is not my intention this time. Court is in three hours for my sons change of name (middle & last). I've never seen him, he's 9. I've paid support every month. After paternity was established (son was 4 months old) I never had my name put on his birth certificate. He has never had my last name either, it was always his mothers last name. His middle name is my first name which they are changing. His mother is changing his last name to her current husbands which she's been with for 8 years. Just recently married though. My question is IF I go to court (still undecided) Would I have a leg to stand on if I refuse to give consent?

It's impossible to say. Certainly not if you don't show up. Personally, I think you're compaounding one mistake with another, but what the hell do I know.

by not showing up? Or do you mean it would be a mistake in your opinion if I did show up and contest it?

By slacking off on any sort of involvement with the kid. For Christ's sake man - you helped create this child. For NINE bleeding years you've just sorta shrugged and said "oh well". In your other thread you did the same thing, and at the same time whined about the injustice of it all.

It's time for you to make a decision regarding what sort of man you are - are you going to stand up to your responsibilities, or be a slacking whiner?
