I have been divorced for a year now and in my divorce decree my ex-husband agreed to payments to me for a debt he owed me. In the decree he named my debts that he would pay, 2 credit cards and a bank loan, but no total amount or payment amount (his attorney's bumble). We verbally agreed on a monthly amount and he paid for six months, but I had to call and remind him of it every month. I have stopped calling him and he is now 6 months behind in his payments to me. Because of the decree, he is now responsible for these debts, but I am having to pay them. I now live in Virginia and he lives in Tennesse, but our divorce was in Mississippi. My question is - How much trouble will it be to have his wages garnished for the payments between all these states or would it be easier to just turn him over to the creditors and have them go after him for the payments and me be done with it? The total amount is around $10,000.

He might be figuring that the statute of limitations will be or has run out on the debts, you should check with an
attorney who is knowledgeable about those provisions in the
laws of Mississippi (or other states involved)
