What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

Hello, I have just found myself in an almost comical situation at work.

I was offered and accepted a new position out of state with my current company. HR notified me of my relocation package which provided a moving company and corporate housing for a couple months in the new city.

The movers delivered all my belongings to storage cross country and I broke my lease (which the company would cover).

My boss sent me a strange email telling me how to expense a hotel for next week in my new work location. I responded no hotel necessary, I am set up in corporate housing.

He responded very confused saying I don't understand, the move to the new city doesn't happen until fall.

So here I am all my belongings in storage across the country and no place to live as I broke my lease and completed the move out process. My boss wants to "discuss" but not sure how to handle this situation.

Discuss the matter with your boss.

Then discuss it with HR.

Your company wants you. Just play it cool and make sure you stay protected and employed.

it would seem that per HR you have already swithced locations / jobs and the person not up to speed is you old boss.
