i have a credit card with bank of america and checking account, due to some hard times i havent been able to pay off debt, but recently BA deducted the amount past due from my checking account, all $2500 and was left with $300..not enought to pay for food, gas, and food and shelter things for the week .. did BA act legally ?

BofA exercised their right of set-off against your account to pay your delinquent debt. They did NOTHING illegal and if you read your account documents, you'll see where they told you they can and will do this.

One reason to NEVER have a credit card with the bank where you have your checking and savings.
