What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

Hello, One of my credit cards got a judgement and writ against my bank account and took my money and now hold it hostage for another $3000. I make very little money and will lose my place to live and not be able to eat if all my money gets taken. The writ is in PA. I am moving to NJ if I open a bank account there can they put a writ on that too and take it? Or does they have to go through the court process from scratch? Or can I put my money on a chase liquid card or something to make it safe. Any advice would help I am broke and can not afford a lawyer so that is not an option.

Your bank account has been levied and frozen for a certain amount of time to allow you to seek exemption through the court. You cannot touch that money and if you don't qualify for an exemption, the money will be sent to the creditor at the end of the time limit.

Once you move to NJ all the creditor has to do is transfer the judgment to NJ and can continue enforcement there. If you open a bank account there the creditor can levy it as soon as it finds it and can also summon you to a debtor examination under oath where you would have to reveal its existence and location. ANY money you put with a financial institution in ANY form would be subject to levy.

You'll need to keep your earnings in cash and use money orders to pay your bills if you want to keep it safe.

Something else you need to know before you move. PA doesn't allow wage garnishment for credit card debt, NJ does. You'll be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire when you move to NJ.
