What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?PA

long story short i bought a brand new truck in 5/98 that got repoed in 5/99. On my credit report does the bank have to report it as a repo? Or can they wait till 8/05 and mark it as a new installment loan and say it was opened in 2002?
I know this is acually for my repo. All the numbers match the papers i got from the bank after they auctioned the truck off in 7/99. Is there anything i could do about this? As they are stating it is a new loan and showing that I Actually made payments to them till oct of 2004 (never sent a cent to them) then quit paying. then marked it as a CO from Nov 2004-Aug 2005.

reason i'm asking this is it has a balance of 4,092 and it looks like they are trying to get away with making the debt 2 1/2 years newer then it should be.

This is pretty confusing.

A negative item may not remain on your credit report longer than 7 1/2 years after the date of first default. DOFD is usually 30 days after the last regular payment you made (after which the account was never current).

If anything different is being reported, you have the right to dispute the error with both the creditor and the credit bureau.

The bank is not required to report anything. But, if they report, all information must be accurate.
