What is the name of your state? North Dakota/Minnesota

How many years back can they check a criminal history in North Dakota and Minnesota for "normal jobs"? Non-FDIC insured, or high security.

I thought that the federal law used to be 7 years and that was just changed not to long ago, and it was then regulated by the state law.

I have no idea why so many people seem to believe that an employer can't check criminal history records longer ago than seven years but that's just not true. Now some States have laws that address how those criminal records can be used in making employment decisions but an employer can CHECK criminal history all the way back to the age 18 on a job candidate or an employee.

It's common knowledge.

Just like "living together for 7 years" means you are married by common law.
