I am a college student with a permanent residency. I have 2 petty theft charges on my criminal record. Both times I was cited but not taken to jail. I am pretty sure this disqualifies me from good moral requirement to become naturalized. Would it help if I wait 5more years to apply for citizenship? If I join the Army reserve and apply 1 year later, would my chance of becoming naturalized improve? If I fail to receive citizenship, then when the time comes to renew permanent residency, would I have difficulty even renewing permanent residency?
