My brother's girlfriend left him and took his son. She refused to let him see him until the court forced her to. She works for the court and seems to be able to pull strings (changing court dates without notice to him, changing judges to one that has lunch with her lawyer, getting extensions on requirements she hasn't met such as anger counceling and parenting class, etc.) His first lawyer didn't do anything in court, and the second one he hired seemed to be great at first but ineffectual now. My brother has spent over $9,000 and exhausted his funds. He is purchasing his home, has great child care available, and mainly stayed in the relationship because he loves and dotes on his son. She has a history of child abuse, after 5 months she still lives in one room with both of her children and still hasn't set up his crib. When she doesn't meet the court's requirements, they give her an extension. My nephew has started some strange behaviors, such as hitting himself, and I think that he is not in the best environment. Does anyone have any recommendations?

While you are concerned, we only have your emotional account and the facts are needed to give advice. Your brother has sought legal representation and has access to the facts and is in the best place to evaluate the situation and advise. Even though you are a concerned relative, you have no say in this matter.
