I'm in Ohio, other parent is in Oregon
In Oct.I sent my son to stay with his dad because he was causing alot of trouble here(he's 10). eventually dad asked me to stop child support(he is 21,000 behind) while he had the boy..I told him I would if he would write me asking while he had temp. custody to stop support. He said he was never going to send the boy back and that was that...then he went to child support and said he has physical custody and wanted support stopped, went to the courthouse and is trying to get me for abandonment and filed a motion to modify the custody order so he could have support. what should I do? We also have a girl she is still with me, dad is recently out of jail after 4 years and has quit his job so he doesn't have to pay child support to me or the other mom he has 3 kids with.

You sent a troubled 10 year old child to stay with a convicted criminal? and now you are surprised that he is causing your problems?

What is it YOU want?

I know it wasn't the smartest decision,my son is his father only smaller. I thought getting to know him, instead of hearing about him would help his behavior. No therapy was working, bribing wasn't,there was no diciplining him it seemed nothing mattered...I was at my wits end. It was the final step for me not knowing other options. I'm sure you've heard about the parents that chained their child to the basement wall. He was too young for juv.det.

I don't mind paying if he is doing the boy any good...in the long run for sanity sake it would be worth it...I am just wondering if he can actually file abandonment charges against me when from the beginning we were in agreement on these issues. he says according to law when I put him on a plane it was considered abandonment.

He is wrong. Providing you have kept up contact with the child then he can not play that card. Also, if you both have a child, then he may not get any support anyway.
