My father is in the hospital and very ill.They said hes not going to make it.He wanted to leave power of attorny to me. The only problem is he cant talk or move right now . How im i going to get power of attorney when hes in that condition.Dont have much longer before he passes.NjWhat is the name of your state?

You don't get it. If he is in no condition to sign such a document with full knowledge and understanding of what he is signing, it's not going to stand up in court at any rate.

Deal with his condition at this point. Let the legal matters resolve themselves after he passes.

Did dad leave a last will and testament? Having a power of attorney will not matter much anyway now, since it expires at the same time the death occurs. After the death occurs, you or a probate attorney you hire can file papers at the county courthouse probate court to become administrator of his estate and thus be legally authorized to claim any and all assets.

Exactly. A POA is meaningless once the party dies. One cannot act as Attorney in Fact for a person that is deceased.
