Could you please answer one question regarding strata law? I own a residential unit in a wood frame building. Due to building envelope failure, my floor is flooded. I have called strata corporations, and they will repair building envelope, remove damaged flooring in my unit and give an insulting low amount of money toward replacing my damaged floor. Previous owner before me has replaced original 30 years old carpet with a new laminate flooring. So as far as my reimbursements for the damage caused by failure of the building envelope, strata will reimburse amount they arrived to from the scenario as though there would have been the old carpet and the amount they would offer would be equal to a new under-pad for carpet in affected areas of the unit and cleaning of the old carpet that would have been rolled back.
These few hundreds of dollars will cover 10% or less of the required repairs.
Should I negotiate with the strata or with strata insurance or with my insurance or with the lawyer for this matter? Please answer
