My husband died at his job from an accident last week. The insurance company that works for the contractor he was working for wants to come to my house to speak with me. They said they will cover unpaid medical expenses, etc. Is this unusual? I am leary as to why they want to come here so quickly after my husband died. Should I speak to my attorney first.

Absolutely, yes. And in your situation, I'd be wanting to speak with the attorney first.

I am sorry for your loss.

Let me tell you a story. When an airplane goes down, the airlines have a team of people that round up the next of kin to the survivors and puts them up in a very nice hotel near the crash site. They pay for meals. They buy them clothing if they need it. They help with funeral expenses and the like.

All in an effort to make the next of kin say, "they were so nice I don't think I can sue them into the ground."

Realize that insurance companies are money making businesses and they give NOTHING away for free.

There is an old saying. If you are looking around the table and can't see the patsy, YOU are the patsy.
