What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? NY
A debt collector (I don't want to name the firm) called my house. My daughter answered and he said "I want to talk to your deadbeat daddy." It was the same guy who blew a fart over the phone the other day. I'm fed up! I want to sue these creeps for harrassment and mental abuse. What can I do?

I'm sure farting through the phone and calling you a deadbeat doesn't qualify under the definition of harassment and/or mental abuse.

Why don't you try a certified cease and desist letter? Then you might want to think about paying your bill, instead of trying to make it go away with lawsuits.

I beg to differ. The fart, besides rude, can be filed under 'obscenity' and the abusive language of calling someone names IS prohibited in the FDCPA. Talking to a child that way would earn that guy a punch in the face in my book. You could sue these ADUBs but unless you've got proof, you'll have a hard time getting anywhere. Record this jerk's garbage mouth and then you'll have something to work with. Send copies of the recordings to the FTC along with a written complaint. They need to know what goes on !

Hey, Lady bin Laden: You might want to have your JOKE-A-POST meter checked for malfunctions. If you are unable to detect that some goof kid is playing with your head, then this is my golden opportunity to send somebody over your house to sell you my premium aluminum siding. I really need the extra money.

I would bet the OP was given a raspberry. But to some folks, the sound that eminate from different ends of the body can sound the same.

I should just keep my mouth shut, but my 10 year old proudly told me the other day that the average person farts 14 times a day. How could farting be considered profane?

Racer, I'll have some extra aluminum siding after I've fleeced LadynMyBed. Interested? It's high-quality faux white brick. Brand-new. Top-of-the-line.

The same as the "F" word when used as verbal abuse. Our bodies may all work the same way, but that doesn't mean it isn't rude or abusive in context.

I see STEVE_O is still talking to the hand.....

A clueless serious intellectual discussion about the legal ramifications of debt collector farts, all of which was initiated by a prankster crank who didn't feel like going to his Sociology 101 class. Hilarious.
