What is the name of your state? TX

I have a comprehensive insurance. I was an additional driver on a rental car and had an accident. I am not really sure how my insurance covers it. Will I be paying a deductible? Really appriciate your response.

Well depends if they have deducibles on their policy.... if they do then more then likley, but if they have a family auot policy then more then likley no... it will be taken care of... though if they have a named auto policy then no coverage at all.... so you wouldnt have to pay a deducible you probually would have to pay for the car...

breakdown:
(I'm talking about Enterprise, but most insurance companies are the same)

Car rental companies offer insurance coverage to help the consumer... It isn't a scam as most people think it is... The car employees do not get a "commision" for every insurance policy the successfulyl sell, but simply they get a "percentage." In order for an employee to proceed to the next level, they would have had to sell the insurance coverage on %80 of the contracts they write up usually over a 3 month period...

If you get in a car accident the Car renter insurance pays your deductible to the car renteral company, and you are free to go. Basically they pay themselves... If you did not purchase the car renter's insurance, you have to pay it within 24 hrs, or they ding your CC automatically if you rented a car with one. If you paid via debit card or cash, they automatically take it out and there is not anything you can do about it... They are allowed to do this because it's in the contract you signed... Remember all that small print you skipped over?

In this case, if User0225 was an additional driver, meaning he was legally allowed to drive the vehicle and his name is on the contract, he does not have to worry about anything... Why? because he is not the primary renter. The primary renter is responsible for the deductible...

Always double check your state's laws to verify...
