What is the name of your state? California

- i was wondering if your employer can deduct money from your check, due to their HR mistake?

- My vacation was approved by my Manager and HR. For two weeks vacation paid 60 hrs. So i got paid for 60hrs Vacation paid. But The pay check i just recieve on Friday they started to deduct money from me, because they said they mess up on my vacation. They were only suppose to give me 40 hrs. And i did not agree or sign any paper work saying they can deduct my money from my check after their mistake.

Not your Money

I am not one hundred percent sure on CA laws, but it is perfedtly legal in most other states to rectify a payroll error. You were not entitled to the money in the first place, so they are not breaking the law by making the correction. Wouldn't you expect them to correct an error if they paid you LESS vacation than you were entitled to?

HR and manager agree

When they approve my two weeks vacation, they gave me 60 HRS and i have that sign by them also. So after paying you, a month later you can't just say o you only have 40 hrs vacation, after you took 60hrs vacation time. But i'm for sure the california law won't let you do that after agreeing. Thats why i post this message so someone can give me more info about it. Thanks for anyone that is posting messages to respone to this. :)

If you're so sure that they can't allow you to take more time than you actually have, due to a clerical error, then by all means call the state DOL and complaint.
